Madison City Commission moves to two meetings a month

The Madison City Commission has approved an amended ordinance regarding how often it meets each month.  Commissioners approved the second reading of the amended ordinance during their meeting Monday.  The ordinance states that the regular meeting of the commissioners shall be held in the commission chambers in City Hall on the first and third Mondays of each month.

When questioned as to why the commissioners wanted to make the change, Commissioner Adam Shaw said they hope it will make them more efficient.

Shaw also said that the commission has the option to hold additional special meetings as needed and may need to meet more often in the fall when they are going through budget and negotiations discussions.

Commissioners will continue to meet at 5:30 in the afternoon on the two Mondays each month.  City Administrator Jameson Berreth said that any change in the time of the meetings will need to be done by resolution.
