County approves additional workstation for Register of Deeds office

The Lake County Register of Deeds office is planning to add an additional workstation to help accommodate those wanting to do research in the office.  Register of Deeds Shirley Ebsen met with Lake County Commissioners during their meeting Tuesday to discuss her plan for the workstation.

Ebsen said that she did not include the request in her office’s 2022 budget, but did include it in her office’s request through the county’s American Rescue Plan Act funds.  Commission Administrative Officer Shelli Gust said that the deadline for requests for ARPA funds was December 31st and there will not be any decisions on how the grant funds will be awarded until March.

Ebsen said the quote she received for the project in October was for just more than two-thousand dollars.  She told commissioners that she can pay for the project from her current budget funds, and if her office doesn’t receive an ARPA grant to cover it, then her budget will need to be supplemented at the end of the year.

Commissioners approved Ebsen to go ahead with adding the workstation at a cost not to exceed 25-hundred dollars.Â
