Sodexo selected to provide food service for public universities
The state Board of Regents have chosen a food service provider that will serve all of its college campuses. Sodexo was chosen by the Board of Regents from three vendors who submitted proposals to be the system-wide food service provider.
The move to a single food service provider for the entire public university system was the result of a recommendation from the Senate Bill 55 Task Force. The SB-55 Task Force was a state-appointed task force that studied operations and functions of the public university system over the past year. Each of the public universities previously negotiated its own food service contract with a vendor of its choice.
Regents Executive Director and CEO Brian Maher said that a single service provider should deliver a direct savings that they can pass on to their students through their meal plans. Â
Final details of the contract are to be negotiated by March 1st and Sodexo will begin service to the campuses this summer. Â
