County approves liquor licenses, personnel during Tuesday meeting

The Lake County Commission took action on a few items during a short regular meeting on Tuesday.

Commissioners approved the renewal of the county’s seven liquor licenses for 2022.  Auditor Paula Barrick said that all of the businesses had paid their taxes and the Sheriff’s Office reported no issues with any of them.  Lake County has one retail on-sale liquor license that is available for sale at a cost of 50-thousand dollars.  Commissioners discussed how long the license had been open for sale and whether or not they should consider lowering the cost of it.  Barrick said that the county has had some interest in the license, but most of those who are interested don’t pursue it because of the cost.  Commissioners did not take any action on changing anything with the open license.

Also on Tuesday, commissioners approved a new six-year agreement with Pictometry International Corporation.  The cost of the new agreement is just more than 128-thousand dollars, which is three-thousand dollars less than the county’s prior agreement.  The expense is included in the county’s Equalization Office budget.  The commission also approved a Memorandum of Understanding with the City of Madison regarding their use of the Pictometry imagery.  The city is designated as an authorized subdivision and pays ten-percent of the project costs.

One personnel item was acted on by county commissioners Tuesday.  Commissioners accepted the resignation of Ashley Allgaier as the Equalization Clerk and Administrative Assistant for the Equalization Office effective November 12th.  The commission also approved Allgaier to work a maximum of nineteen hours per week on a temporary, part-time basis in the Equalization Office at a rate of $16.41 an hour with no benefits.  This will be effective November 15th through December 17th.
