Hodges advances to 138lbs Semi-finals

Madison‘s Caleb Hodges has advanced to the semi finals of the 138 pound weight class after day one of the state wrestling meet in Sioux Falls. Hodges opened Thursday with a first round win over Riley Dighton by fall. Hodges followed that up with a 7-6 decision over Riley Waldo in the quarterfinal round. Hodges, who came into the state tournament with a record of 39-3, will wrestle in the semi finals Friday against Joel Junger of Rapid City Stevens.

Seven other Madison Bulldog wrestlers competed in Thursday’s opening round. Alex Zwak, Wyatt Pickard and Jade Wilkens, all lost their opening round matchups, and will wrestle in the consolation bracket this morning.

All four girl wrestlers for Madison suffered losses in their opening round matches. Capri Johnson, Gracie Lobbins, Debrah Meyer, and A’Ziyah Meredith will also wrestle in the consolation side today. 

Also Thursday, Howard wrestlers Jackson Remmers, and Weston Remmers both advanced to the Semifinals of their weight classes. Gannon Gilligan and Conner Giedd of Kingsbury County also made it through to today’s Semifinals.
