Flandreau Moves Past Mt. Vernon in 11-0 Shutout

After out-hitting Mt. Vernon 17-3, Flandreau moved on to the quarterfinals in the South Dakota Amateur Baseball State Tournament with an 11-0 victory. After going into the fourth with a 3-0 lead, the Cardinals broke the game open with a five-run inning. Keith Cutler, Tim Huber, and Bret Severtson each had two hits and two RBIs. Dallas Schneiderman tossed seven scoreless innings and struck out five. Alexandria beat Volga 16-1 last night, which gave the Cardinals their quarterfinals opponent. The Angels eliminated Canova in the first round, and Flandreau will try to avoid being the second team from the Cornbelt to be eliminated by Alexandria on Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. You can hear that game on Jammin’ Country 103.
