In an area Legion match-up on Wednesday night, Madison scored 11 unanswered runs on their way to a 12-7 win over McCook/Miner in Salem. McCook/Miner scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning, but Madison struck back with six in the second and five more in the third. Carson Hunsley, Seth Fernau and Ben Lester all drove in two runs for Madison, Peyton Cleveland plated three for McCook/Miner. The two sides will match up again on Monday in Madison.
Madison Maroon continued their hot start to the season, routing West Central 12-2 on Wednesday night. Madison pushed three runs across in the bottom of the first and then blew the game open with six runs in the fourth. Trey Smith went 3/4 with three runs and three RBIs, Colby Volstad also collected three hits and drove in three. Madison Maroon improved to 3-0 on the summer, having scored at least 12 runs in all three games.
