Five more COVID-19 deaths were reported in the state over the weekend.  This puts the state’s total number of COVID-19 deaths at 1912.  The state Department of Health also reported 276 new positive coronavirus cases since Friday.  The number of active cases remained relatively steady at more than 21-hundred as of Sunday, and 64 people are currently hospitalized because of the virus. 

Lake County reported four new positive COVID-19 cases and three recovered cases over the weekend. The county’s active cases were at 46 on Sunday.

The number of active cases increased in McCook, Miner and Brookings counties since Friday.  McCook County reported 25 active COVID-19 cases, Miner County had 13, and Brookings County had 78 active cases.  Moody County’s number of active COVID-19 cases stayed steady at five as of Sunday, and Kingsbury County decreased to 12.  

The state Department of Health reported that 34-percent of the state’s population had received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while nineteen-percent had completed their vaccination series.
