Wednesday COVID-19 update:  Two deaths and 254 new positives in SD; no new cases in Lake County

Two more COVID-19 deaths were reported in the state on Wednesday.  The state Department of Health reported that the total number of virus-related deaths is now at 169.  

New positive COVID-19 cases in the state increased by 254 on Wednesday.  The state’s total is now at just more than 14-thousand positive cases.  Of those cases, 2875 of them are active at this time, and 77 people are hospitalized.  

Lake County’s total number of positive COVID-19 cases went down one Wednesday to 118.  The state Department of Health at times re-assigns cases to other counties and that leads to a decrease.  One more recovered case was reported also in Lake County Wednesday, and the number of deaths remained at six.  This puts the number of active COVID-19 cases in the county currently at eleven.  

Area counties that saw increases in positive coronavirus cases as of Wednesday include Brookings County, which now has 167 active cases, and Moody County, which now has ten active cases.  Miner County also has one more positive case as of Wednesday, so now has two active cases.  McCook County currently has sixteen active COVID-19 cases, and Kingsbury County has six.
