Wednesday COVID-19 update: 5 deaths in state; 4 new positive cases in Lake County
Five more COVID-19 deaths are being reported in the state Wednesday. The state’s total number of virus-related deaths is now at 1893. The state Department of Health is also reporting 181 new positive COVID-19 cases. The number of active cases statewide increased some Wednesday to just less than two-thousand, and 97 people are currently hospitalized.
Lake County reports four new positive COVID-19 cases Wednesday, with no new recovered cases. Lake County now has 34 active coronavirus cases.
Other area counties where active cases increased as of Wednesday are McCook County, where there are now 12 active cases and Brookings County, where there are 59.
There was no change in the number of active COVID-19 cases in Miner, Moody, and Kingsbury counties.
As of Wednesday, the state Department of Health is reporting 26-percent of the state’s population has received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, and 14-percent have received both doses.
