The state Highway Patrol has released information this week on an accident involving a Madison Central school bus nearly three weeks ago.  The bus was en route to North Sioux City for a high school football game when the accident happened.  The Highway Patrol reports that the crash happened just before 4:00 on the afternoon of August 28th on Interstate-29 in Minnehaha County.

The Madison bus was in the driving lane southbound on I-29 behind another bus that was not involved in the crash.  The Highway Patrol reports that a 2015 Hyundai was merging onto the interstate from Exit 94, when it failed to yield for the bus and the bus driver was forced to brake.  The two vehicles collided and the driver of the Hyundai lost control of the vehicle and struck another vehicle, a 2019 Chevy Equinox, which was in the passing lane.  There were no injuries in the accident and the two vehicles had to be towed from the scene.  The bus did not have to be towed and damage to the bus was estimated at around one-thousand dollars. The 53-year-old female driver of the Hyundai was cited in the accident. Â
