The Madison Central School District has reported two additional positive COVID-19 cases in the district.

On Sunday, Superintendent Joel Jorgenson said that a student or staff member at Madison Elementary School has tested positive for COVID-19.  In all positive cases, the school district works with the state Department of Health to determine any close contacts and informs parents accordingly with an e-mail and a phone call.

On Friday, the district reported a positive COVID-19 case in one of the district’s substitute teachers.  Jorgenson said that after working through the process with the state Department of Health, no close contacts for the school district were found for this case.  Jorgenson has said that even if these situations don’t involve close contacts in the schools, they will still inform parents and guardians of any COVID-19 positive cases.

With these additional positive cases, the total number of cases overall within the district is 31 since early September. The district is updating information on the number of active and recovered cases within the district weekly on Wednesdays on the school district’s website.
