Two additional COVID-19 deaths were reported in the state on Friday, bringing the state’s total number of deaths since the start of the pandemic to 1991.  Active cases in the state decreased some to below 900, and 67 people were hospitalized because of the virus.

The state Department of Health reported 45 new positive COVID-19 cases as of Friday.  The state does not update daily COVID-19 information on the weekend, so new information will be released again Monday.  

Lake County reported four new positive COVID-19 cases as of Friday, with two more recovered cases.  The county now has seven active COVID-19 cases.  

Elsewhere in our area, the number of active cases remained steady in Moody, Miner and Kingsbury counties, while McCook and Brookings counties reported a slight decrease.
