Thursday COVID-19 update: 2 deaths in state; 2 new positive cases in Lake County

The state Department of Health reported two more COVID-19 deaths on Thursday, putting the state’s overall total number of virus-related deaths at 1956.  An additional 134 new positive COVID-19 cases were also reported yesterday.  Active cases decreased to just less than two-thousand and the number of people hospitalized because of the virus decreased some also to 107.

Lake County reported two new positive COVID-19 cases, and five recovered cases.  The county currently has 24 active cases.  Surrounding counties also reported a decrease in active cases as of Thursday.

The state Department of Health reported that as of Thursday, 53-percent of the state’s population had received the 1st dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while 41-percent had completed their vaccination series.
