A pipeline project that would move liquid carbon dioxide from ethanol plants to underground storage in North Dakota is in the early stages.

Summit Carbon Solutions wants to build the line from Iowa and Nebraska through South Dakota to its destination in central North Dakota.  Jim Pirolli, chief commercial officer for Summit Carbon, said they understand the importance of the farmland they will cross.

Pirolli said they are talking to landowners along the proposed route.

The proposed line would enter South Dakota south of Sioux Falls, then angle northwest toward the Aberdeen area and then into North Dakota.

Pirolli said they know landowners can be wary of pipeline companies.

Pirolli said they plan more public information meetings along the South Dakota route early next year.
