State House Ag Committee approves bill protecting ag operations

The South Dakota House Ag and Natural Resources Committee debated a bill this week that would provide more protections for ag operations from nuisance claims and lawsuits.

State Department of Ag and Natural Resources Secretary Hunter Roberts said farmers and ranchers have enough challenges already.

Committee Chairman, Representative Roger Chase of Huron, said that agriculture creates some issues.

The committee approved the bill on a 12-0 vote, sending it on to the full House.
