Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, the state has had more than 36-thousand people test positive, more than twenty-two hundred spend time in the hospital, and 347 people have died.

State Epidemiologist Dr. Joshua Clayton says the state Department of Health has broken down the numbers.

Clayton says the virus is much more serious for older people.

Clayton says the best response to the virus is what he calls “the swiss cheese” approach.

The positive test rate in the state has averaged just more than fourteen-percent over the last week. Any rate over five percent is considered as widespread.
