South Dakota House, Senate come up with different redistricting maps

The South Dakota Senate Legislative Redistricting Committee came up with their own map and will forward that to a special legislative session next month.

During a meeting Monday, District 8 Senator Casey Crabtree of Madison made the case for his map proposal.

State Senator Jim Bolin of Canton said he was not happy with the map.

Committee Chair, State Senator Mary Duvall of Pierre, outlined the process for the map proposal.

The House committee came up with a different map version. Legislators will have to agree on a final map during the special session in November, or the Supreme Court will have the final say.

Senate – Blackbird 2.0
