The East River Electric Employees Committee’s 56th Annual Mountain Oyster Fundraiser for LifeScape that was scheduled for Thursday, March 12th, at Nicky’s Restaurant in Madison has been postponed. With the recent news of confirmed cases of Coronavirus in parts of South Dakota and the World Health Organization officially declaring Coronavirus a pandemic, East River feels it is a necessary and socially responsible step to protect the welfare of the community. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends limiting large gatherings and discretionary face-to-face meetings, so for the safety of the community and all employees, they’ve decided to postpone the event.

Also because of the recent confirmed cases of Coronavirus in nearby counties, the Madison Central School District has decided to postpone the district’s 5th through 12th grade band concert for tonight (Thursday).

And schools in the West Central School District remain closed through the weekend in order to complete a thorough cleaning of the district’s facilities and transportation vehicles.  One of the positive Minnehaha County cases of Coronavirus includes a Hartford man with children who attend school at West Central. Â
