Dakota State University in Madison has named a permanent director for it’s Alumni and Family Engagement department.  Carrie Slaathaug, who had been serving as the interim director, has been named to the position permanently.

Slaathaug had been DSU’s Annual Fund and Phonathon Manager since 2016 and was named interim director in May 2019.

Mark Millage, vice president for Institutional Advancement at DSU, said that Slaathaug is engaging alumni, students, and their families.  Because she has been including families in her efforts, Millage said that this was highlighted in the new position.

Slaathaug is looking forward to melding the engagement efforts to include both alumni and family members.  She noted that Dakota State alumni are proud, but often quiet champions of the university.

DSU’s previous alumni director, Jona Schmidt, is now Director of Major and Planned Gifts with the DSU Institutional Advancement staff.
