Sioux Falls man sentenced on drug charge
A Sioux Falls man has been sentenced on a drug charge in Lake County. 19-year-old Douglas Wells was sentenced this week in Lake County Circuit Court on one felony charge of marijuana possession and one misdemeanor charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. On the felony marijuana possession charge, Circuit Judge Pat Pardy sentenced Wells to serve four years in the state penitentiary. Judge Pardy suspended the prison sentence based on several conditions, including that he serve 60 days in the county jail, be on supervised probation for three years, and pay fine, costs, and restitution totaling just more than 500-dollars.
On the misdemeanor charge, Judge Pardy sentenced Wells to serve 90 days in jail, but suspended all but five days of the jail time. He also must pay fines and costs of close to 400-dollars. The judge ordered that the misdemeanor sentence be served consecutive to the one on the felony marijuana possession charge.
