Residents reminded to keep natural gas meters clear of snow and ice

The latest winter storm brings with it a safety reminder for those with natural gas service.  As we told you yesterday, residents are reminded to keep the area around meters clear.  Northwestern Energy Customer Service Manager Tom Glanzer explains what needs to be done.

Along with keeping good access to the meter, Glanzer said it’s important to keep the meter clear of snow buildup.

He reminds customers also to watch for ice build-up on furnace vents.

Heavy snow, ice and strong winds could also lead to downed power lines.  Anyone who sees any damage like this should contact authorities immediately.
