Positive COVID-19 case reported at Madison Elementary School

The Madison Central School District is reporting a positive case of COVID-19.  School officials informed parents Thursday that one student or staff member at Madison Elementary School had tested positive for COVID-19.  There have been a total of four positive cases overall at the Madison Elementary School since the start of the school year, with the three other cases now recovered.

The district is working with the state Department of Health to determine if there are any additional students who would be considered close contacts to the most recent case at the Elementary School.  School officials will notify the parents of any student considered to be a close contact.  All Madison Central schools remain at the district’s Level One status

As of Thursday, the state Department of Health reported that Lake County had 33 active cases of COVID-19.  Statewide, there are currently just more than 75-hundred active coronavirus cases and 214 people are hospitalized.  So far, 2096 people in the state have died with COVID-19.
