Madison firefighters respond to two calls Monday
Madison firefighters responded to a couple of calls on Monday.
Fire Chief Randy Minnaert said that Monday morning around 7:30 they were called to a report of a camper that had burned in a campground near Lake Madison. He said the camper had already burned and was smoldering when the call came in, so firefighters took one truck and hosed it down. Minnaert said that two other campers on either side of the one that burned were severely damaged as well. He said they are not sure when the fire started or what caused it at this time.
On Monday afternoon just after 2:45, firefighters responded to a report of a grass fire at a residence north of Madison near Highway 81 and 227th Street. Minnaert said that the fire burned around three to four acres of grass. He said that the property owner had done some burning several days before and that the fire had flared up from that.
For both fire calls, Minnaert said that firefighters were on scene for around an hour.
