Madison Fire Department Called to House Fire Monday

At approximately 4:35 pm Monday afternoon, a call came into the Madison Fire Department at 414 NE 5th Street after a neighbor reported the fire at the house.

When the Madison Fire Department arrived at the scene, there was smoke rolling out of the soffits of the house. Madison Fire Chief Randy Minnaert said the fire was contained in the kitchen of the lower level apartments in the rental house and the kitchen sustained pretty substantial damage with smoke throughout the whole house.

Minnaert said there were 10 people and three dogs living in the two apartments of the rental house, but no one was home and there were no injuries in the fire. Minnaert said at this point they don’t know what caused the fire and the fire is under investigation.
