The Madison City Commission on Monday approved the postponement of the joint Madison City and Madison Central School Board election to June 2nd.  City Finance Officer Jennifer Eimers told commissioners that the state legislature approved legislation last week allowing for the postponement of elections that were scheduled for April or May to a Tuesday in June.  Eimers said that she, School Business Manager Mitchell Brooks, and County Auditor Bobbi Janke met this past week to discuss the best date for the election and decided that holding it with the primary election on June 2nd was the best option.

Eimers said that the Madison Central School Board will take action on the proposed new election date at its meeting next week.  She said that more information on the absentee voting process for the election will be forthcoming.

Commissioner Jeremiah Corbin said that considering the current situation, he thinks that the new election date will be the best option as people should be aware of the primary election date. Â
