Legislature Continues Discussion on SB201

While the South Dakota Legislature decides what to do with SB201, the so-called carbon pipeline “compromise” bill, some county Republican Parties are actively working to defeat the bill.

SB201 is co-sponsored by Republican Senate Majority Leader Casey Crabtree from Madison & Republican House Majority Leader Will Mortenson from Fort Pierre.  Whether to concur with the House changes in the bill restoring some local control to counties was pending in the Senate yesterday.

The Butte County Republican Party has posted an anti-SB201 online petition, asking citizens to sign.

On the other side of the state, the Minnehaha County Republican Party has also been asking for citizens to contact their legislators to oppose the measure.

Both chambers have lengthy calendars as they clear their bill load and prepare for consideration of the general budget bill for Fiscal Year 2025 later this week.
