Despite COVID-19, the South Dakota State Fair went on this year in Huron. It is one of the few state fairs being held in the country and while it looked a bit different, Assistant Manager Candi Briley said the 135-year tradition goes on.

With South Dakota the only place offering livestock shows, there was increased interest from out of state entries in the livestock breed show. Briley said the 4-H and FFA entries were also strong.

Briley said they did take special safety precautions to ensure the health of fairgoers and exhibitors.

While there were no big musical concerts, the South Dakota State Fair did offer a lineup of entertainment in its grandstand and many free stages. The five-day fair ends today in Huron.
