Lake County’s 911 Communications Department receives grant funding

Lake County’s 911 Communications Department has been approved to receive state grant funding that it applied for earlier this fall.  During the Lake County Commission meeting Tuesday, Commission Administrative Officer Shelli Gust told commissioners that 911 Communications received just more than 43-thousand dollars in grant money.  She said the money was approved to be used for the department’s mapping software, a laptop, and a recorder.  Gust said that the state did not approve grant funding for the department’s request for a refrigerator, microwave and exercise equipment.  She said that with the additional amount of grant funding to help pay for the department’s recorder, it will save money within the department’s budget for that project, so then some of that savings is being used to purchase the refrigerator, microwave and exercise equipment for the dispatchers.
