Lake County intersection eligible for improvement

A Lake County intersection is eligible for improvement through a federal safety program.  Lake County Commissioners this week heard from Commission Administrative Officer Shelli Gust about a federal safety fund project involving the intersection of 237th Street and 461-A Avenue near Lake Madison.

Gust said that the project would eliminate the curve at the intersection by doing some minor grading and surfacing.  The project is eligible for federal safety funds at a 90-percent federal and ten-percent local match.  Preliminary cost for the project is 115-thousand dollars, so the county’s share would be approximately 11-thousand-500 dollars.

Commissioners voted to move forward with participation in the state DOT’s federal safety fund intersection project.
