Lake County Commission holds land lease auction

The Lake County Commission held its public auction for the lease of the county’s land known as the former Lake County Poor Farm during its meeting on Tuesday.  Two bidders took part in the land lease auction, held in the county courthouse lobby.  The top bidder was Sorenson Farms, with an annual bid of 18-thousand-500 dollars.  The bid amount is paid annually for the next two years for the just more than 75 acres of land located southeast of Madison.

Also on Tuesday, commissioners approved agreements and a service contract with Vanguard Appraisals for software for the county’s Equalization Office.  They also authorized the county’s Highway Department to move forward with the recommendation of PubWorks software and to bring final proposals and any required contracts or agreements to the commission for consideration and approval.  County Highway Department Office Manager Michelle Uhrig also requested to purchase new fuel tank monitoring equipment, but commissioners asked that the department wait and work that into it’s 2023 budget.
