College campuses across the country, including Dakota State University in Madison, stopped offering on-campus tours because of the COVID-19 pandemic. But DSU is now in the process of resuming tours on campus, while still offering virtual options.

DSU Assistant Director of Admissions Amber Schmidt said that campus visits are one of the best ways for students to envision themselves at a future university.  She said that the visit is one of the biggest deciding factors for a student.

While DSU Admissions is happy to continue offering virtual visits, they are looking forward to being able to connect with families in person. The Admissions Department will take precautions to enhance the safety of visitors and staff as the pandemic continues. There will be guidelines created for the visits, including social distancing, designated parking, and routine cleaning protocols.

The virtual visits and tours will remain an option for families who are not comfortable being out or mingling in larger groups. Schmidt said these visits are also beneficial for students who come from locations throughout the country and the world, who may not be able to travel long distances to visit Dakota State. Â
