Some area communities and projects are included in more than 69-million dollars that has been approved for water, wastewater, and solid waste projects in the state.  

The state Department of Environment and Natural Resources said the Board of Water and Natural Resources has approved the funding for water, wastewater, and solid waste projects throughout the state.

One of the projects in our area includes the Kingbrook Rural Water System, which has been approved for a 360-thousand dollar loan to make drinking water improvements. The city of Salem has been approved for close to one-point-six-million dollars to make drinking water and wastewater system improvements. 

The grants and loans were awarded from DENR’s Consolidated Water Facilities Construction program, Drinking Water State Revolving Fund program, Clean Water State Revolving Fund program, and Solid Waste Management program.
