Dennert and Lindsay take part in KJAM Mayor’s Candidate Forum

KJAM Radio hosted the two candidates in the Mayor’s election in the City of Madison for a candidate forum on Dakota’s Best AM 1390 on Thursday.  Incumbent Mayor Marshall Dennert and Roy Lindsay were asked a number of questions that had been submitted by our listeners.  One of the questions had to do with snow removal in the city and whether or not snow gates should be considered.  Dennert said that the city’s street department does a good job of clearing the streets after a snowfall, and would need to do more research to determine if the city should pursue the use of snow gates.

Former Mayor Lindsay said that the city tried out snow gates for a time while he was in office and he said they found that they weren’t worth the cost.

Both Dennert and Lindsay also answered a question regarding street repair in the city.  Dennert said that the city is in its third year of the Rural Development project and that they are hopeful to receive some grant funding to do more infrastructure work in order to then repair the corresponding streets.

Lindsay also said that infrastructure improvements need to be made in order for street improvements to be made.  He spoke Thursday about some of what was done for street repair when he served as Mayor.

A video of Thursday’s KJAM Mayor’s candidate forum can be found on our election page on our website at amazingmadison.com.   The joint Madison City and Madison Central School Board election is Tuesday, April 12th, with voting to take place at the downtown Madison City Armory.  Early voting can also be done before the election by contacting the Madison City Finance Office or the Madison Central Business Office.
