City tables agreement for engineering work for 9th Street project

Madison City Commissioners this week tabled the approval of a professional services agreement with an engineering company to do design work on improvements planned for 9th Street and Union Avenue.  City Engineer Chad Comes told commissioners Monday that the professional services agreement with Houston Engineering of Sioux Falls would be for design work for the project.

Comes said that there would be other elements included in the engineering firm’s design work as well.

Houston Engineering’s proposed cost to do the design work and assist in the bidding process for the project is more than 140-thousand dollars.

Commissioner Bob Thill made the motion to table the agreement for two weeks.

Commissioner Adam Shaw seconded the motion to table, which was then approved unanimously by the commissioners.Â
