City commission approves permit for outdoor platform for downtown business

The Madison City Commission approved another permit for an outdoor seating area for a downtown business.  Commissioners Monday approved an application for a permit to occupy the city’s right of way for The Office Bar and Grill, located on the corner of Egan Avenue and Southwest 1st Street. 

The Office’s temporary platform will be located on the north side of the business, beginning on the west side of the yellow painted parking zone and extending 22 feet to the west.  The Office’s permit states that the platform will be 12-feet by 22-feet.  Mayor Marshall Dennert said that he wanted to see the platform a little smaller.

Commissioner Mike Waldner made the motion to accept the application as it was originally presented.  It was approved by a vote of 4-to-1, with Mayor Dennert voting against it.
