The Madison City Commission will continue to have a Parkston firm handle the city’s audit services and annual report for 2020.  Commissioners Monday authorized the mayor to sign engagement letters for Schoenfish and Company, certified public accountants.

Jeff Heinemeyer, Interim Finance Advisor for the city, told commissioners that Schoenfish and Company is charging the city three-thousand dollars to prepare the city’s annual report, and 15-thousand-500 dollars to prepare the city’s audit for 2020.

City commissioners Monday also approved the Madison Police Department’s purchase of a new vehicle from Prostrollo Auto Mall.  Police Chief Justin Meyer said that the new 2021 Ford Explorer Utility Police Interceptor will replace the department’s current 2017 vehicle that now has 97-thousand miles on it.  He said the new vehicle will be a hybrid, so the cost is more, but the savings on fuel consumption should make up for that.  The bid amount for the vehicle is just less than 37-thousand dollars.  Meyer said that the department should have the new vehicle by next summer.
