City approves annual resolution for special maintenance fee

The Madison City Commission has approved the renewal of the city’s special maintenance fee that residents pay that goes toward maintaining and repairing city streets.  During their meeting Monday, commissioners approved a resolution renewing the annual levy of a special maintenance fee to be used for the annual maintenance and repair of street surfaces within the city limits.  City Finance Officer Jennifer Eimers said there is no change in the resolution that has been in place for several years.

Eimers said the resolution needs to be approved by commissioners on an annual basis in order for the city to continue collecting the fee for maintaining or repairing public improvements.

Commissioner Mike Waldner said the funds collected by the city have been put to good use.

Eimers said that the special maintenance fee generates around 245-thousand dollars each year.
