City approves annexation of property for senior living facility

The Madison City Commission has taken another step in the development of a senior living facility on the south side of the city.  During their meeting on Monday, commissioners approved a resolution approving the voluntary annexation of the property where the proposed facility is to be located.  The property is currently owned by Terry Schultz of Madison, and is located just east of Madison Regional Health System.

Commissioners approved a memorandum of understanding with the developer of the project during their last regular meeting.

City Administrator Jameson Berreth outlined to commissioners some of what the resolution for annexation of the property entails.

Berreth said included in the resolution is how that surcharge would be handled by the city.

Berreth said he checked with a couple of other property owners who went through annexation with the city having to pay the surcharge and he said that they were supportive of the change and the new development.
