Chester Fire Fighter Dies on Duty

The South Dakota Firefighters Association has identified the Lake County firefighter who died while on duty Saturday morning. The association said Fred Fedeler, age 67, was a volunteer with the Chester Fire Department. Fedeler suffered a medical emergency while on the scene of a structure fire.

Emergency responders provided life saving measures on the scene, before Fedeler was transported to the Madison Regional Health System, where he died.

Funeral arrangements are pending at this time, under the direction of the Kahler-Brende Funeral Home.
