Semifinal Results From 4B Tournament

Tuesday night brought us our semifinal games for the 2020 District 4B Amateur Baseball Tournament. In the first game, Flandreau picked up a 15-0 win in five innings. The first two and a half innings went by quietly before the Cardinals would erupt for 7 runs in the bottom of the third, scored another in the fourth and then plated 7 more in the fifth to end the contest. Flandreau found success throughout their lineup, punching their ticket back to the championship game and winning their seventh straight game.

The Cavona Gang smacked two home runs in the bottom of the first inning, on their way to a 5-1 win over the Mudcats of Dell Rapids. Garrett Gassman launched a two-run homer and Jason Miller hit a solo shot in the first. Trey Krier pitched a complete game, scattering six hits – walking one and striking out nine. Canova and Flandreau will play for the district championship on Saturday night, both Dell Rapids teams will make their way through the bottom bracket.

Two more games are scheduled for this evening in Dells. Madison and Salem square off at 6pm (action on AM1390) followed by Lennox versus Hartford/Humboldt Gamecocks (can be heard on FM103).
