Cardinals Get on Top Early in Route to Victory

On the fifth day of the Class B Amateur Baseball State Tournament, the Flandreau Cardinals were looking to continue the winning ways of the Cornbelt league against the Menno MadFrogs. The Cardinals got off to a hot start against the MadFrogs before cooling down.

Aiden Ladd opened up the scoring for the Cardinals with his RBI Single bringing in Jake Patterson.

The Cardinals scored seven total runs in the first three innings, four of which came in the third inning. Then the MadFrogs made a pitching change, bringing in Jamison Kleinsasser and once he came in the Cardinals were done scoring.

Kleinsasser pitched for 7 ⅔ innings, giving up only four hits and three walked batters with no runs allowed. That after starting pitcher Doug Hall gave up seven runs on five hits, along with six walks, in 2 ⅓ innings.

The damage was done though, as the MadFrogs struggled to get much going at the plate, only getting two runs on five hits for the game, leading the Cardinals to get the 7-2 win, advance on to round two.

Dallas Schneiderman got the win for the Cardinals, pitching four-innings of two hit ball.

After the first round of games in the state tournament, the Cornbelt league finished 6-1. The Cardinals will move on to Round Two, where they will play Kimball/White Lake Wednesday evening.
