In a match-up of number one and number two in 9A football, the Howard Tigers knocked off the Pride of Canistota/Freeman in triple overtime on Friday night, 16-14. The host Pride scored in the first quarter and added the two-point conversion – Howard would answer in the second quarter on a one-yard touchdown run from Riley Genzlinger. The two-point conversion was good and the two sides were tied at eight’s at halftime.

That score would hold throughout the second half and through the first two overtime periods. Canistota/Freeman punched the ball in to take a 14-8 lead but their two-point conversion was unsuccessful. Genzlinger would find the end-zone once again to tie the game up and Howard would fake an extra point attempt, picking up the two point conversion and the victory.

The Pride out-gained the Tigers in offensive yards (255-209) and led in most offensive categories but Howard walked away with the thrilling victory. Howard, now 3-0 on the year will travel to Chester next Friday night.
