Trojans Return Home & Look to Continue Strong Play: Game Preview – #11 Dakota State vs Viterbo
The #11 ranked Trojan Women’s Basketball team (15-4 overall, 3-0 NSAA) return home for their first home game of 2024 and they’ll take on the Viterbo V-Hawks.
Viterbo
Viterbo (6-7 overall, 1-1 NSAA) come into this game as an up and down team. Floating around .500 on the year in terms of their record. They average 65.3 points per game on the year and slightly more in conference play with 67 a game.
They’re led in scoring by senior Emma Wagner. She averages 11.3 points per game this season. She has one teammate with a double figure scoring average as well, which is Emily McCurdy with 10.5 points per game.
The V-Hawks aren’t a group that fairs well on the road. Sitting with just a 2-4 road record through 13 games. Something that has hurt them all year long, is their inability to make three point shots efficiently. They hold just a 24.8% shooting percentage from deep.
Dakota State
DSU comes into this game a confident team. They’re coming off back-to-back season-high marks in field goal percentage and 3-pt percentage.
The Trojans are back to playing their brand of basketball and playing some of their best ball of the year because of it. The fast, free and fun theme from head coach David Moe is in full effect with this year’s team.
Savannah Walsdorf comes in leading the pack in scoring with 15.9 points per game. Walsdorf is the reigning North Star Athletic Association Player-of-the-Week, her second time receiving the honor this season. Following her in scoring is Angela Slattery with 10.9 points per game.
Tipoff between the two teams is set for 5:30pm with pregame beginning at 5:15pm on Jammin Country 103.
