Trojans Commit Season-Low in Turnovers in Win; Defeat Bruins 66-41

The #13 Trojan Women’s Basketball team (12-4 overall, 1-0 NSAA) came out on top of the Bruins to open North Star Athletic Association play, winning 66-41 on the road.

A slow start to the game for the Trojans offensively, but the defense was sharp from the opening tip. Forcing the Bruins into eight first quarter turnovers to set the tone. From the second quarter and beyond, the shots began to fall to propel the Trojans to a lead they never looked back from. The win ties the all-time series between the two teams at 9-9.

Dakota State held Bellevue to three single digit quarters and led by as many as 30 points. DSU held the Bruins to having no player see double digits scoring. The Trojans also had a season-low 10 turnovers in the game.

Gabby Moore and Kaylee Denker both led in scoring for Bellevue with seven points each. Denker also led their team in rebounding with nine and committed eight turnovers. The Bruins had 25 turnovers in the game, which is their third highest turnover total of the season.

Savannah Walsdorf led all scorers with 16 points. A pair of Trojans added eight – those being Morgan Huber and Angela Slattery. Huber was a +23 in her 17 minutes of action, which led all players.

Outside of scoring, it was the Tabor Teel show. She led all players in rebounds with 12 and half being offensive. Also led all players with six blocks, four coming in the first half.
