Trojans at Home Hoping to Build Off Recent Momentum: Game Preview – Dakota State vs Viterbo

The Trojan Men’s Basketball team (12-7 overall, 2-1 NSAA) will look to keep the wins rolling as they’re back home to take on the Viterbo V-Hawks.

Viterbo

Viterbo (6-11 overall, 0-2 NSAA) is a group that has had many struggles in its road battles this year. Sitting at just 1-6 on the road this season. That lone win came earlier this month when they won at Dakota Wesleyan.

Aside from that win, it’s been tough sledding lately. Dropping 10 of their last 11 games. The V-Hawks, ahead of the win over DWU, hadn’t seen a win since early November when they upset Dordt on neutral ground. That alone illustrates how up and down this team can be. When things are clicking, they seem to have the ability to beat anyone. Though when they’re not, they can be beaten on any given night by anybody.

On the season, they average 69.8 points per game, with just a slight uptick in scoring at 70.5 a game in NSAA play. They’re led in scoring by senior Jack Monis, who averages 16.5 points per game.

Dakota State

For the Trojans, they seem to have figured some things out as of late. Especially when Mison Coilton stays out of foul trouble, they’re a very potent team on both ends. They’ve won back-to-back games for the first time since Nov. 17 & 18 earlier this season.

DSU has seen various different offenses and defenses this season and Viterbo comes in looking more of the same as the rest. On top of still being on the search for themselves, the V-Hawks have improvements to make.

Coilton leads in scoring for the Trojans with 13.6 points per game. Two of his teammates join him with double figure scoring averages on the season. Those being Brayden Pankonen and Emmanuel Akpan with 10.4 points per game each.

Tipoff between the two teams is set for 7:30pm with pregame beginning at approximately 7:15pm on Jammin Country 103.
