Trojan Softball faces elimination game, after a 1-1 start to the NSAA Tournament

Dakota State Softball opened the NSAA tournament by exploding for six runs in the bottom second inning to cruise past Waldorf 10-4.  It was the first time in program history that the Trojans won an NSAA opening round postseason tournament game.

Sarah Torres and Madison Aldendife each had a pair of RBI’s for the Trojans. Angela Slattery struck out 5 batters of 5 innings to pick up the win. 

The win then sent DSU into a second round match up with #2 Valley City State. The Vikings won the game 14-6 in five innings to move on in the winner’s bracket of the Tournament.

Michelle Evdos finished the game 3-for-3 with 3 RBI. Xotchil Lopez had 3 hits as well to go with 2 RBI. Slattery took the loss, giving up 8 runs in 2 and a third innings. 

DSU will face Dickinson State in an elimination game today at 11:30am.  The winner will move on to another elimination game at 2pm,  against the winner Mayville State And Waldorf.
