Sunday’s Cornbelt League Scores

The Salem Cubs and Lennox Alpacas split their Cornbelt doubleheader on Sunday afternoon. Lennox jumped out to an early 6-0 lead in game one, on their way to a 12-4 win. Kyle Braun had 3 hits, and Brandon Fodness 4 RBI for Lennox. Drew Sweeter went all 7 innings and struck out 9 Salem batters. 

In Game 2 it was the Cubs jumping out to the big lead, and topping Lennox 12-2 in 5 innings. Kyle Tuschen, Brian Duxbury, and Bobby Koepsell each had 2 RBI in the win for Salem. Issac Anderson pitched all 5 innings for the Cubs, allowing just 7 hits. 

Both teams are now 6-5 in league play this year.

The Dell Rapids Mudcats continued to roll through the Cornbelt on Sunday, taking a pair of games from the Flandreau Cardinals. Kris Reges threw a 7 inning shutout in game one of the doubleheader, as the Mudcats picked up a 3-0 win.  Reges allowed just 4 hits, and struck out 15 Flandreau batters. Spencer Freudenthal had a 2-run homer in Game 2, as the Mudcats cruised to a 10-2 win.

The Colman A’s took Game 1 of their doubleheader, picking up a 4-0 win over the Humboldt-Hartford Gamecocks. A’s pitcher Deon Entringer struckout six batters over 5 innings, and Chris Meyer and Chase Dewitt each drove in 2 runs. The Gamecocks split the doubleheader, winning 10-4 in Game 2. Ryan Healey had 3 hits, and Joe Hanisch 2 RBI in the game for Humboldt-Hartford.

The Madison Bronco’s picked up a pair of wins over the Humboldt-Hartford Wood Ducks on Sunday, winning by scores of 4-2 and 17-1. Matt Burpee and Logan Allbee each hit home runs, while Tyler Tappe and Brock Minnaert picked up the wins.

Dell Rapids PBR and the Canova split a pair of games Sunday. Bruce Mogen threw a three hit shutout in Game 1, as PBR topped Canova 6-0. Weston Hanson added a homer in the game. Canova’s offense came to life in Game 2 for a 16-3 win. Garrett Gassman launched a 3 run homer in the 2nd inning, Jared Miller followed with 2 more home runs in the game for Canova.Â
