Pair of Trojans Claim College Sports Communicators Honors

Dakota State Football’s senior punter/wide receiver Cole Sylliaasen and sophomore Braxton Lacher have earned the College Sports Communicators (CSC) honors. The CSC recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.

NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA are all separately recognized by the CSC Academic All-America team.

The Academic All-District honorees are considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America finalists will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First, second, and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced at the turn of the calendar on Jan. 23, 2024.

Sylliaasen, a Brandon, SD native, was a North Star Athletic Association honorable mention as a punter this season. He was also the NSAA Football Champions of Character recipient this season.

Lacher was named the first ever Long Snapper of the Year in the NSAA this season. Including being the first long snapper named First Team All-Conference Special Teams specialist in conference history. He also serves on the Captains’ Council in the Dakota State Athletics Department.

Both Sylliaasen and Lacher earned national (NAIA) and conference (NSAA) academic awards.
