Madison Hungry for A Win: Game Preview – Bulldogs vs Panthers
Madison Bulldogs (0-4) will host Dakota Valley (3-1) for its Homecoming game this year at the Dan Beacom Track Complex.
Dakota Valley
Dakota Valley comes into the game with a few wins on the year. Along with one close loss to Sioux Falls Christian in week three. They have a first year head coach at the helm in Kenny Wilhite.Â
Early on, the Panthers are averaging 30 points per game through four weeks and they’ve limited their opponents to seven points per game. Not typically a team who lets teams score often. Even in the loss to Sioux Falls Christian, they only gave up 14 points in the game.
A well oiled machine in the early going, they’re led by junior quarterback Drew Lukken. He’s a composed QB who trusts his offense and isn’t afraid to take shots down the field when they’re open.
Madison
Traditionally unfamiliar territory for the Bulldogs as far as the record goes. Though another week has come around to turn the tide. In the lone home contest for the Bulldogs this season, they were able to eclipse 30 points in the game. They have yet to score 30 on the road, so they seem a bit more comfortable on the home turf to an extent. Including this game, three of their last five games will be at home.
They have made a notable switch on the offensive line. With sophomore Adam Willis and junior Israel Ouverson swapping places on the left side of the line. Ouverson now at left guard and Willis holding down left tackle. It seemed to be something that helped the run game to an extent in week four as Madison dominated in that category.
The Bulldog defense is picking up steam and are led by linebackers Eli Barger and Jordan Pederson. Who each have 35+ tackles on the year. Consistency is the name of the game for Madison. The coaches have been pleased with the improved defensive play the last couple of weeks so we’ll see if it carries over to a third week.
Kickoff has been moved to up to 4pm due to weather. The pregame begin at 3:30pm on AM 1390 Dakotas Best.
